Did anyone spot the new free broadband service from Google?

I would imagine there are a few catches to it that aren't apparent at first glance. Just off the top of my head, some may be:

1. Just how "broadband" is their service. Internet infrastructure costs money, so I cannot imagine they could afford to give away fiber optic connections for free forever. Which brings up the next point ...

2. How long will it stay free? I have heard of companies offering free service only to start charging for it once you get used to it. Fine while it's free but ...

3. They indicate it's a Beta service. That means that the first subscribers will actually be helping to troubleshoot the service. Once they get all the bugs out, will they continue to offer it for free?

I would be interested to find out the answers to some of these questions but do not have the interest at this time to find out myself. You going to subscribe Ben?

BTW, I've split this discussion off from where it was as it was off-topic for "April 1st ...". ;)

I received the following in a recent email from my wife. Why she doesn't just post it in here herself I have no idea ... :dunno:

Ten Thoughts to Ponder for 2007

Number 10
Life is sexually transmitted.

Number 9
Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Number 8
Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich.

Number 7
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

Number 6
Some people are like a Slinky ... not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

Number 5
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

Number 4
All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Number 3
Why does a slight tax increase cost you $200.00 and a substantial tax cut saves you 30?

Number 2
In the 60s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

AND THE NUMBER 1 THOUGHT FOR 2007
We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among the millions and millions of cows in America but we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration. See what you're getting into...before you go there. Check it out!

And yet another ... :lolc:

Senior Breakfast

The Senior's Breakfast Special

We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the "seniors' special" was Two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $1.99.

"Sounds good," my wife said. "But I don't want the eggs."

"Then I'll have to charge you two-dollars and forty-nine cents because you're ordering a la carte," the waitress warned her.

"You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?", my wife asked incredulously.

"YES!!" stated the waitress.

"I'll take the special."

"How do you want your eggs?"

"Raw and in the shell," my wife replied.

She took the two eggs home.

DON'T MESS WITH SENIORS!!!

This is from an email sent to me by Earl D. Karper, Sr, who is not yet a forum member:

Here is an exercise program for those of us whose wisdom exceeds our
ambition. The doctor told me "Physical exercise is good for you." I know
that I should do it, but my body is out of shape, so I have worked out this
easy daily program I can do anywhere. If I can do it, you can do this, too.

Monday:
Beat around the bush.
Jump to conclusions.
Climb the walls.
Wade through paperwork.

Tuesday:
Drag my heels.
Push my luck.
Make mountains out of molehills.
Hit the nail on the head.

Wednesday:
Bend over backwards.
Jump on the bandwagon.
Balance the books.
Run around in circles.

Thursday:
Toot my own horn.
Climb the ladder of success.
Pull out the stops.
Add fuel to the fire.

Friday:
Open a can of worms.
Put my foot in my mouth.
Start the ball rolling.
Go over the edge.

Saturday:
Pick up the pieces.

Ref: Myth Busters?

It's been a while since I posted anything to this topic, so i thought I would break my long lack with a really funny video I just found. Sorry if you have a slow connection, even on my computer it seemed to take a long time to load but it's well worth it. :seeno: :spkno: ;)

A Fishy Story
Jumbo Joke: http://www.jumbojoke.com/a_fishy_story.html

It was the perfect day for a little fishing, but after a while I ran out of bait.

Then a few feet up the shore I saw a snake with a frog in his mouth, and frogs are good bass bait.

Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth, I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit.

After thinking about it for awhile, I had an idea: I grabbed my bottle of whiskey (hey, don't laugh: it's the best part of fishing!) and poured a little whiskey in its mouth.

Sure enough, his eyes rolled back, he went limp, and I released him without incident. I carried on my fishing with the frog. Caught a big bass, too!

A couple hours later I felt something brush my leg. I looked down and there was that same snake looking up at me. He had two frogs in his mouth.
