Halloween 2006

Postby Spock » Sun 2006 Oct 22 11:57

We don't "celebrate" Halloween but I know there are many others who enjoy the festivities, so I thought I would find a few links tht may be of particular interest around this time of year.

Extreme Pumpkins - Lots of advice on how to carve pumpkins as well as a yearly contest for the best. Warning: read the links carefully. The author makes his living by selling "Adult toys". If you click on the wrong link it will take you to his site where he makes his pitch. The links are well marked as such, so there should be no problem.
Pumpkin carving techniques that focus on extreme designs and the use of power tools. Includes photo gallery and patterns.

The Pumpkin Wizard - Lots of patterns and suggestions but you must register with the site to get to a "Member's Only" area which presumably has a lot more and a lot better patterns. Registration by itslef isn't bad, after all, I require registration for this forum, just be aware that you have to do so.
With over 150 free downloadable pumpkin patterns, carving tools and techniques, instructions to make your own patterns, and a message board for carving ...

The Pumpkin Patch - On the surface anyway, this site seems like the most family oriented so far. but they don't have very much on their site about actually carving pumpkins. They do have links to other sites that do have the appropriate information.
Now is the time to consider about the great pumpkin you'll be carving this Halloween.

Swan Pumpkin Farm - This site has the best up-front family oriented content so far. There are templates you can print out to transfer to the pumpkin to be carved, carving tips, and even a virtual carving page that looks like a lot of fun.

Pumpkin Carving 101 - A lot of content about halloween pumpkins here including not only how to carve them but carving history, choosing pumpkins, carving tools, carving with stencils, and at least 7 more interesting looking pages.
You've come to the right place for Halloween Pumpkin Carving!

Pumpkin Masters - Retail site selling carving tools but they also have free templates available.

Halloween Yard Safety: Carving Pumpkins - Safety tips for creating your masterpiece. This page uses frames and has advertisements. You may have to click on the back button multiple times before you actually leave. It would be easier to use the Back Menu to move back out of the site.
