I keep getting interesting news bites from one of my former students and thought I may as well post them all in the same place. Here is the latest. Perhaps one of these days I will get him to start making his own posts. :?

Greetings, Fellow Infidels:

Read this news piece off of WorldnetDaily (via INN) - A Saudi Prince has
reportedly purchased a significant share of the Fox Corporation.

It would be interesting to see how "Fair and Balanced" Fox will be when
covering terrorist related stories in the future - we already have the
"Crescent News Network" broadcasting 24/7 over here.

So oil does make the world "go around". Here's the link:

As usual, your mileage may vary (YMMV). I haven't had time to verify this, so don't know whether it is true or not. My personal recommendation for anything controversial is to take it with a grain of salt until you have personally verified it. Until then, act on it as you would any other unprooved rumor, with restraint. ;)

Got this off of WorldNetDaily.

Do you recall the $200+ Billion we're about to spend down in New Orleans?
With all the displaced residents who need jobs and domestic construction
resources available, we're actually considering hiring Indian companies to
come here to fix up New Orleans.

As you can tell - all levels of administration continue to "buttocks it up".
Remember this for the next election.

Greetings, fellow infidels:

Found a couple of pieces worth reading on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The first article deals with a discussion around Sen. McCain's bill which
directs enemy conbatants (like the ones in Gito) be treated as directed in the
Army Field Manual - that is, without use of any forms of torture. Apparently,
torture hasn't been a reliable means of getting accurate information.

Funny how real war vets like McCain and Powell wants our military to conduct
ourselves in moral excellence, while the Oilmen wish play dirty, ignoring the
Fourth Geneva Convention, which reportedly covers civilian combatants. Dubya
threatned to veto the Bill as well, which passed the Senate 90-9. This would
mean that the ONLY BILL DUBYA'S EVER VETOED DURING HIS TERM WAS FOR TORTURING
PRISONERS. Good Luck - I smell an landslide of an override should the veto
occur.

Don't mistake me for a Peacenik - my first Commanding Officer was a POW in
Hanoi; and I'm with McCain and Powell on this one. Here's the URL

http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2005/10/6/43412/4301

The second article is about the Defense Intelligence Agency asking for a "work
around" past the Privacy Act by allowing their agents to go undercover
domestically against US citizens...

I thought that was the FBI/NSA/Homeland Security's job to investigate domestic
leads.

The URL for the Oxymoroned Agency article:
http://www.dhonline.com/articles/2005/1 ... /nat04.txt

I guess the term "Duty, Honor, Country" and similar Codes of Conduct we've
used to protect our constitutional rights continue to whither away.

I might consider emigrating somewhere, any suggestions? (Ha!!)

Here's the latest:

Greetings, fellow freedom loving colleagues and alumni (read infidels):

Hope all is well. I'm loathing the 85+ degree weather I'm experiencing in Los
Angeles. It's November, for crying out loud...

I have one joke posted on The Onion, and a more serious
article (at least for the planners) regarding the US response to a
Hypothetical Saudi Coup d'etat.

For your reading pleaure, here are the URLs:

Iraqi Constitution - ratified, and then burned.
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/42163

US plans to respond to a Saudi Coup by yet another regime change!!
http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribun ... 38889.html

After reading both articles, it's hard to tell which one was written in jext -
HeyNow!!

Rock on; and enjoy your day

Looks like we have yet another security SNAFU caused buy a Chinese Spy ring based operating within a Defense Contractor Level 3 Communications' offices in SoCal.

Tons of sensitive classified data regarding our defense operational platforms have been compromised by the spies, who were Naturalized Citizens with SECRET Level Security Clearances. The spies just took the material home and made copies for export. Hey Now!!

With the stolen data, China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has already deployed localized versions of the technology on their weapons platforms. E.g., the AEGIS Battle Managment System is called "Magic Shield".

Nice going. Now China can definitely take a US-defended Taiwan without resorting to nukes; and do so much sooner than pundits' predictions.

It may be prudent NOT to invest in companies heavily vested in Taiwan (Dell's one - Google the rest if you're concerned).

If you've security clearance work, check your six, since...

loose lips, sink ships!

Here's a piece from The Onion about a sailor enjoying his enlistment in the Navy.

Due to strong language, please forward this to your home account to open:
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/42609

IMHO, when it comes to recruitment ads, I believe the Not Ready for Prime Time Players (Saturday Night Live) nailed it with the "Port of Call - Bayonne, New Jersey" Ad, showing sailors scrubbing commodes and urinals, finishing with, "It's not just a job, it's $98.40 a week!!"

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, and...

BEAT ARMY, SIRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Be advised, the above piece is someone's attempt at humor. The Navy was never this easy when I was in ... back in the stone ages. ;)
