I have received a number of emails having to do with the upcoming Presidential Election. Some have been good, thought provoking statements, others have been outright attacks against one party or the other. In all cases, I have responded either with additional facts or with information designed to educate the sender against taking such drivel, even official sounding drivel, as gospel.
I am going to allow dispassionate political discussion in this topic but want to warn all those who would participate that we need to not only NOT attack others, either fellow forum members or political candidates, but you must use some method of original, verifiable research to prove your points. I have my political preference but it will not hold sway in here. Everyone must be treated fairly, politely, and with respect.
Perhaps a definition of politics would be helpful:

as well as a discussion of what has become our defacto political system:

The US Democratic Party:

and the US Republican Party:

OK, everyone to your corners and come out fighting when the bell rings. Just remember, fight cleanly and fairly!
