Duplication

Postby Tenner » Tue 2006 Nov 21 6:45

Hope this is the right place to post a software q : In WinXP Home, when using Word, I find all my documents are being duplicated in the form of 'Back-up of ... '
Can this be switched off, as I guess it's eating up space ?
Thank you.

Lazy answer:
Yes there is a solution to you problem.

Not so lazy answer:
If you run Word and press the F1 function key and do a search on "back-up", it will offer you an entry on "Save a backup copy of a document".

Less lazy answer:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Save tab.
2. Select the Always create backup copy check box.

If you uncheck the box mentioned in #2 above, your back-up copies should not be made any more.

Many thanks, spock - I'll use the 'Less Lazy' Method, I think ( when I get back on my desk-top in the Office )
Enjoy the day !
